"Turbulence in Bihar Politics: Cracks Deepen as NDA Faces Seat-Sharing Storm"

top-news

The political landscape in Bihar is witnessing turbulence as cracks within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) have started to emerge following disagreements over seat-sharing arrangements. The return of Janata Dal (United) chief Nitish Kumar to the NDA was initially seen as a boost, but now the coalition faces potential setbacks as Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP) chief Pashupati Kumar Paras expresses dissatisfaction with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Pashupati Kumar Paras voiced his concerns about the NDA not giving due preference to his party in Bihar's seat-sharing arrangement. This discontentment has led to disappointment among RLJP workers, prompting discussions within the party about contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha elections independently and announcing candidates without consulting the BJP.

The rift within the NDA widened after a meeting between BJP chief JP Nadda and Chirag Paswan of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas). Reports suggest that the BJP and LJP (Ram Vilas) have finalized a seat-sharing deal, leaving RLJP with no significant seats. While Pashupati Kumar Paras has been offered influential positions by the BJP, including the Governorship of Bihar, he remains dissatisfied with the current arrangement.

The focal point of contention is the Hajipur constituency, currently represented by Pashupati Kumar Paras, previously held by RLJP stalwart late Ram Vilas Paswan. Chirag Paswan's insistence on contesting from his father's seat has exacerbated tensions within the alliance.

Pashupati Kumar Paras expressed disappointment over the lack of dialogue and equitable treatment within the NDA. He emphasized the importance of the 'sitting-getting goal' and urged the NDA central leadership to reconsider its decision, citing the denial of tickets to three MPs from the Paswan community as a concerning development.

In response, the BJP has adopted an accommodative tone, assuring efforts to address Paras' grievances and bring unity within the NDA. Bihar Minister Prem Kumar expressed confidence in resolving the issues and emphasized the commitment to contest the elections together as a coalition.

The unfolding dynamics in Bihar underscore the complexities of alliance politics and the challenges of balancing competing interests within a coalition.
